Green Tea White Hot Chocolate

A festive hot chocolate with snowmen marshmallows on it... how romantic! We've partnered with the lovely Samantha Hadadi from Nourished Naturally to bring you the ultimate Green Tea & White Hot Chocolate. Need we say more? Give it a try!

 

Ingredients:

Serves 2 

400g tin coconut milk (low fat, if desired) or 2 cups dairy-free milk of choice

1/3 cup oat milk

Handful cashews, soaked 4-6 hours and patted dry (optional)

4 tbsp cacao butter buttons

1-2 tbsp sweetener of choice (to taste – we used maple syrup)

1 tsp vanilla extract

2-3 We Are Tea Sencha green tea bags – depending on how strong you like it! (or use two tsp loose leaf in a strainer)

 

For coconut cream, if using:

1 tin full-fat coconut milk, chilled overnight

1 tsp vanilla extract

Maple syrup, to taste 

Method:

  • First, prepare your coconut cream, if using. Open the coconut milk tin and scoop out the solidified part (you can save the water for smoothies etc!). Using an electric whisk, beat with the vanilla and sweetener until light and fluffy. Place in the fridge until ready to use.
  • Gently heat coconut and oat milk in a saucepan until warm. Add in the tea bags, then turn off the heat and allow to steep for five minutes.
  • Remove the tea bags, then add in the cacao butter and stir until melted, re-heating gently if needed (you want it to be at drinking temperature).
  • Place in a blender and blitz smooth with the cashews, sweetener and vanilla, adding in a pinch of spirulina if desired to make it green – this is totally optional, though!
  • Pour into mugs and drink warm, with coconut cream spooned or piped on top and chocolate shavings.
