Rich Woods is head of Spirit & Cocktail Development at Duck & Waffle, a sky high award winning restaurant in London. Smoky Negroni
Almost 100 years ago The Smoky Negroni cocktail came to life in Florence, Italy. The story goes that the first Negroni was made for a guy named Count Camillo Negroni. The bartender who made the cocktail was asked by the Count to strengthen his Americano cocktail by adding gin instead of soda water. It was this that brought the Negroni as we know it to life. Later on the bartender sent a letter to the Count advising him not to drink more than 20 of the cocktails per day due to their intoxicating nature. We'll keep this in mind.
