What is a B Corporation?
B Corporations are leading and accelerating the global shift of people using business as a force for good to move towards a more inclusive & sustainable economy worldwide.
What does being B Corp certified mean?
It’s like a Fair Trade certification but for the business as a whole not just for the product. Businesses that are successfully Certified B Corporations have met standards for social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. This is done through a series of checks and evaluations over a number of months that analyses whether the business has an overall positive impact on the environment, society, the local community & its workers.
Some of the biggest challenges we face in today's society cannot be solved by government and NGO's alone, this is where businesses come in! B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end goal; positive changes for their employees, communities & the environment.
The B Corp community together works towards:

Why did we join?
At We Are Tea we have always tried to do good as we grow as a business. It was important to us that whilst we were moving forward, we were leaving behind positive changes in a sustainable way. This goes for everything from the growing of our teas through the Ethical Tea Partnership to giving back to charities such as Contact the Elderly to committing to remove plastic from our packaging. We came across the B Corp community a few years back & knew we wanted to jump on board. A group of businesses not trying to out profit each other but to work together towards a better world, win win!
Working towards B Corp certification over the last 6 months has helped us to elevate and accelerate our efforts towards a bigger end goal. We've found that going through the checklists and standards has given us validation on what we're doing right, but also shown us where we need to up our game.
We know that we aren't perfect. We have a long way to go & tonnes of room for improvement, but this is where B Corp helps, our current score is 80.6 and we know we can better this! By measuring ourselves against performance standards we can constantly improve & work towards bigger and better targets.
