Darjeeling 2nd flush Loose Leaf Tea

The 'champagne' of teas.

This sought after black tea is produced from May onwards at the base of the Himalayas in the Darjeeling West Bengal area of India. Darjeeling is often referred to as the ‘champagne’ of teas, it offers a rich and full-bodied aroma with hints of muscatel.

A flush in the tea world means the different growing seasons in Darjeeling. These are not completely set in stone and depends on the weather and the rainfall patterns.

• First Flush from mid-March to May: This tea is light and almost clear in colour, the tea has a floral scent.
• Second Flush from June to mid-August: We picked the second flush for our Darjeeling as the tea has a stronger, full-bodied character. The tea is darker in colour than the first flush and is unique in flavour, no other teas bring out the fruity flavour of the muscatel grape as clear as the second flush!
• Third Flush (Autumn Flush) from October to November: This tea has a lighter flavour but is darker in colour. 

There are also mini flushes in between the first, second and third.

How to make the perfect cup of Darjeeling tea:

Step 1: Use one teaspoon per cup

Step 2: Use freshly drawn boiled water, all black teas can take the heat!

Step 3: Brew for 90 seconds, or leave for longer according to personal taste

Step 4: Milk is optional and you don't need sugar, you're sweet enough!
